Final FRCA Timing

The RCoA has gained approval from the GMC to extend the time to gain the Final FRCA.

For trainees commencing Intermediate Training in August 2016, you will have 30 months to gain the Final FRCA. This means if you fail to complete the FRCA by the end of ST4 you will be able to commence ST5 training. This will give you 1 more attempt at the Final FRCA. If you are still unsuccessful after this attempt you will require an extension to your training according to the rules set out in the Gold Guide.

If you started Intermediate training before August 2016 then you will not be given this extra 6 months and will need to complete the Final FRCA by the end of ST4, as before.
